Dragon Rouge | Hidden Gem in Alameda
Dragon Rouge is a Vietnamese bistro located in Alameda, which for some, if you're not paying attention, you might just miss it. What makes this place a gem? No big lines. No fuss. Just great food and great service. What also makes this place so great for me is the huge selection of foods they offer. This is a huge plus for a picky eater like myself.
What to order:
Nine dragon mekong platter. This one here is for all the meat lovers. Chicken, pork, steak all in one. My favorite from this platter is definitely the mango steak blankets.
Bouncing beef tenderloin. This here is my favorite dish. No surprise that this is their #1 signature dish. The juicy and tender filet mignon just melts in your mouth with a nice garlic and buttery taste.
Alaskan King Crab. If you're into seafood then this is for you. They don't just give you small pieces of crab with no meat in it, this is the real deal - nice big pieces you can slather butter onto. This pairs really well with the garlic noodles it's served with.
Like spring rolls? Try the Dizzy Dragon Roll Sampler. This will give you a chance to try all the spring rolls they offer and then you can order the one you like most next time!
Dragon's nest w/ steak and prawns. The tastiest crispy noodle nest. The sauce in this dish is sooo flavorful that the only complaint I have is this needs to come with more noods.
The wasabi crab cones. Where do I even start? Crispy on the outside with a nice creamy crab on the inside. After just 1 bite, you get hit with a hint of wasabi flavor that just puts everything all together.
Overall, this is a pretty solid restaurant for lunch or dinner. I'd definitely recommend checking them out if you're in the area or just making a day out of it and explore East Bay! You can even make reservations ahead of time too :)
