  • MAKING THE CUTEST OREO UNICORN TRUFFLES!

    Hey guys!

I've been into making sweet treats lately and decided it was time to make truffles. I made truffles of some sort before, but when my sister came to visit, she had this idea of making them all different colors! Check out her instagram here if you have the chance!

We went and got some food coloring at Safeway, and ended up getting pastel colored food gel for mixing. They were pretty cool after we realized we could mix them and get fancy new colors aside from the 4 it originally came with. Once we finished with the truffles, we realized we made "unicorn" colored ones and they were just soooo pretty that I had to share.

Let me start off by saying, the truffles are pretty easy to make so don't worry if you're not a good cook/baker because if you see something on this blog, it's gonna be easy to make.

I made pink, blue, purple, lavender, orange, and yellow ones :)

For the Oreo truffles you will need:
    • 1 Pack of Oreos
    • 1 8 oz. package of cream cheese
    • 2 standard bags of white chocolate melts
    • 1 package of pastel food coloring - the one I used is Wilton Gel Food Colors.
    • Multi-colored sprinkles of your choice
    • 1 sheet of wax paper
Here are some step by step pictures for reference! If you want to see the directions, just skip to the bottom.

    Directions:
    1. Place Oreo's into a blender/food processor to pulse into crumbs. If you don't have one, you can crush the Oreo's in a plastic bag with a rolling pin or something similar.

    2. Once they are all crushed, transfer it into a nice and big bowl along with an entire 8 oz package of cream cheese and mix them together. I don't have a mixer so I just used a silicone spatula and mixed it by hand which worked pretty well. Once it's done, you have a nice doughy consistency and should have no crumbs or cream cheese left over.

    3. Now get a sheet of wax paper and place it on a cookie sheet. Take the mixture and start rolling out 1 inch balls with your hands and place them on top of the cookie sheet. Do this until all the dough is used up.  After you are done, place the truffles in the freezer for about 15 minutes. You can make the truffles any size you want, check pic #4 above to see what size mine were.

    4. Now, start melting your white chocolate according to the package you bought. The way I did it was by placing the chocolates in a bowl and melting it over hot water. Because I was using several different colors, I melted the chocolates in separate bowls, one color after the next to avoid the chocolate from hardening.

    5. Once you melt your first bowl of chocolate, add 1-2 drops of the food coloring to it and start mixing. When you get the color desired, use a toothpick to roll your truffles in the chocolate until it is all covered. Set it back down and sprinkle toppings on immediately before the chocolate sets. You can use sprinkles like I did, or whatever you would like.

    6. After all the truffles/chocolate has set, place it in an air tight container and refrigerate (NOT FREEZE!)

    7. SIDE NOTE: Depending on what colors you are trying to make and how dark or light, add the colors adjustingly. I mixed different colors together to make new colors that didn't come with the package so feel free to experiment :)
And that's it! Super easy and tasty too! I really loved these little treats and will probably make them for parties or gatherings since they are so easy and pretty.

Let me know if you guys made them or tried the red velvet ones!
